NINETEEN BOOK REVIEW

A book on Coronavirus! You heard it right. Author Anuj Tikku has delivered a thriller inspired by COVID-19 titled NINETEEN. Pandemic which has caused more than 900,000 deaths around the world is the new India's thriller plot. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes. At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. The book is based on these ongoing clinical trials and how India can fight back and defeat the virus.

Nineteen by Anuj Tikku is an example of HOPE. The book makes you believe that there is light despite all the darkness. Tomorrow could be the day you've been waiting for. The pandemic will only make you stronger and the smallest decisions that you take now have the power to change your life forever. The name of the book is inspired by COVID-19 itself. Its plot revolves around every trending topic related to coronavirus that India experienced in the last 7 months. The book talks about Lockdown and how it was crucial for stopping the growth of new corona cases. It also discusses how Tablighi Jamaat was scandalized by some political parties and media houses by spreading fake news. The religious divide that India faced during the initial stages and how the Muslim community was targeted is also covered in detail.

The book also makes you remember the Ebola virus and Gujrat Riots. It also discusses how some businesses are gaining from the current pandemic and are vital for the country's growth and future. It is well researched and has a strong plot. The characterization is also amazing and out of all the characters Danpani the SriLankan Mystical monk is my favorite.

Overall, Nineteen is a ground-breaking novel about coronavirus that will take you on a whirlwind of emotions with its utterly fantastic story. Everyone should read it at least once. So, go ahead and buy this book from Amazon now!

28 DAYS LATER

IMDB RATING: 7.6

RELEASE: 2002

28 Days Later is a 2002 British post-apocalyptic horror film directed by Danny Boyle, written by Alex Garland, and starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson. The plot depicts the breakdown of society following the accidental release of a highly contagious virus and focuses upon the struggle of four survivors (Murphy, Harris, Burns, and Gleeson) to cope with the destruction of the life they once knew while evading those infected by the virus.

The film received critical acclaim. Many praised the performances, screenplay, atmosphere, and soundtrack. The film is credited with reinvigorating the zombie genre of horror film, as well as increasing the popularity of fast-moving zombies (while Dan O'Bannon's 1985 film The Return of the Living Dead featured the first example of "fast zombies" in cinema, the concept was largely neglected in media until after the release of 28 Days Later). It was also a financial success, grossing more than $82.7 million worldwide on its modest budget of $8 million and becoming one of the most profitable horror films of 2002.

COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID‑19 pandemic, also known as the coronavirus pandemic, is an ongoing pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‑19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2). The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on 30 January 2020 and a pandemic on 11 March. As of 12 September 2020, more than 28.5 million cases have been reported in more than 188 countries and territories, resulting in more than 916,000 deaths; more than 19.2 million people have recovered.

The virus is spread primarily via small droplets from coughing, sneezing, and talking. The droplets are usually not airborne; however, those standing in close proximity may inhale them and become infected. People may also become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their face. The transmission may also occur through aerosols that can stay suspended in the air for longer periods of time in enclosed spaces. It is most contagious during the first three days after the onset of symptoms, although the spread is possible before symptoms appear, and from people who are asymptomatic.

Common symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties, and loss of smell. Complications may include pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome. The incubation period is typically around five days but may range from two to 14 days. There are several vaccine candidates in development, although none have completed clinical trials to prove their safety and efficacy. There is no known specific antiviral medication, so primary treatment is currently symptomatic.

Recommended preventive measures include hand washing, covering mouth when coughing, social distancing, wearing a face mask in public, disinfecting surfaces, ventilating and air-filtering, and monitoring and self-isolation for people who suspect they may be infected. Authorities worldwide have responded by implementing travel restrictions, lockdowns, workplace hazard controls, and facility closures to slow the spread of the disease. Many places have also worked to increase testing capacity and trace contacts of the infected.

The pandemic has caused a global social and economic disruption, including the largest global recession since the Great Depression. It has led to the postponement or cancellation of sporting, religious, political, and cultural events, widespread supply shortages exacerbated by panic buying, and decreased emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Educational institutions have been partially or fully closed. Misinformation about the virus has circulated through social media and mass media. There have been incidents of xenophobia and discrimination against Chinese people and against those perceived as being Chinese or as being from areas with high infection rates.
