Zoe Abbott: Get out of the mindset that you have to cut down your dreams

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Zoe Abbott is a Financial Success Consultant. Her passion is helping people of all income levels feel happy about their finances while creating security through life insurance, debt management, and tax-advantaged retirement.

She comes from a non-profit background where she worked for ten years as a counselor. She loves helping people and her ability to relate to all different kinds of people allows her to connect and guide her clients through what can sometimes be a challenging area of finances and money management.

Q. Being a Financial Professional what advice would you give to someone who is living paycheck to paycheck?

I know how hard it is to break free from the feeling that you cannot get beyond feeling stuck in a job that is paying you just barely enough to survive. I also know how hard it is to feel like there is just no way to earn more money.

One thing I do with my clients is getting them out of the mindset that they have to scale back or cut down their dreams.

There is an intangible to money and finance. It is way easier to figure out how to make an extra $100 to $1000 than work out how to cut that from a budget.

The best advice is to change your mind about how hard it is to make money and work out ways to increase your income. Find a second job, sell some things, ask for a raise. Hard work, ingenuity, creativeness, and the belief in your value will result in money. That is how the universe works.

From there, put systems into a place where you are always putting aside money monthly for reserves and an emergency fund and NEVER SPEND IT. This sets you up so that if something happens, you have savings set aside to manage it.

Q. Do you think our financial situation is a reflection of our daily habits? What daily habits we should include in our routine to make a positive impact on our finances?

All life situations reflect our daily habits honestly.

I think it’s important to take things on a gradient. Large, drastic changes never work long term. It’s the small, consistent actions over a long period of time that ultimately win the day.

What if you had the goal to save or invest $5 a day. Pretty soon you would be able to do that without even noticing it. From there you could bump it to $10, $20, and so on.

People grow and improve on a gradient. Make the small changes and concentrate on the gains each and every day.

Q. According to you which works best - Saving money / Investing money or a mixture of both? Why?

One of the best things to do is work with a financial professional who can walk you through this whole process of saving and investing. It’s vital to find someone you trust who will really educate you on the options.

There is not one thing that will work for everyone.

I personally do a combination of saving and investing. Some of my savings accounts are also investment accounts. There are a lot of options out there.

Q. What would you say is the #1 key to success in your life?

I have grown a lot through my religion, self-betterment, and building a team of like-minded people who want me to succeed around me.

My goal is always to make money with people and not one person, so building a strong team has been a key to my success.

Q. What motivates you?

I always want to be better and closer to my goals than I was the day before. I am motivated by the desire for continual growth.

Q. Have you ever failed at anything? If so, how did you handle it and what did you learn?

My marriage of 18 years recently ended. This was hard, but we both share a very strong love for our daughter and fundamentally love each other, and have been able to maintain our friendship.

Q. Which people or books have had the most influence on your growth and why?

I would say A New Slant On Life by L. Ron Hubbard. Hubbard’s technology of self-betterment has been a fundamental part of my life since I first addressed the physical abuse and body shaming I received throughout my early life. In fact, because of the counseling I received, I was able to restore my relationship with my family and addressed many crippling emotional issues and trauma.

Q. How can you help our readers? What are your best services/products that we can try?

I help people through financial education, life insurance, tax advantage retirement plans, and other services. I am licensed in several states and have a network of like-minded consultants available across the nation.

Q. Future of SALISMANIA.com through your eyes?

I am excited for what salismania.com can bring to the world through open dialog, education, and empowerment!
