REVIEW: Pluck Out The Heart - An Anthology of Horror Stories is a book which should be read at least once. With its beautiful cover design to its unexpected finish to the stories, Pluck Out The Heart will keep you engaged till the very end. Although all the stories are not Horror, the quality is very good.

NEELAM SAXENA CHANDRA - An author of twenty books and a record holder in the Limca Book of Records for being the author of the highest number of publications in a year. She has won an award in poetry contest by American Embassy, Premchand award by Ministry of Railways, Rabindranath Tagore International poetry award, Freedom award by Radio city for her lyrics. Neelam has been nominated in the list of 78 most well-known authors in India by Forbes for the year 2014 as well.

Neelam has contributed her four short stories in Pluck Out The Heart - The Hand of Fate, The Revenge, The Scent Of The Mogra and The Visitor. Neelam has shown us why she is the winner of many notable awards and holder of a World Record with her top class short stories. You will be glued to the story from the start till the end, twist and turns are her specialties. The Hand of Fate and The Scent Of The Mogra are my favorite's from her stories. Both the stories are based on revenge and throughout the story, you get a feel of watching a HORROR MOVIE. The other two stories are also very good.

SHAIL RAGHUVANSHI - She is a freelance journalist, editor, content writer, book reviewer, and poet. She has 20 years of writing experience in newspaper, magazine, radio, television and the internet. Her poems, short stories, and articles have been published in leading magazines and journals.

Shail has contributed her three short stories in Pluck Out The Heart - Care And Beyond, The Gift and The Last Concert. Shail's stories leave you unaware of the plot of the story till the very end when you finally come to know who the ghost was. The stories keep you engaged and you can expect an unexpected finish to the stories. Care And Beyond is my favorite from her stories, which is based on a Hospital. There are no killings in the story, but the story is worth reading. The other two stories are good but lacked horror.

NIKHIL KATKAR - He is an Entrepreneur, Graphic Designer and co-founder of social website, Pluck Out The Heart is his first contribution in writing.

Nikhil has contributed his two short stories in Pluck Out The Heart - The Granny and Visible To The Eye And Yet Invisible. After reading Nikhil's stories I just have one question for him. FIRST CONTRIBUTION IN WRITING? Seriously? I loved both the stories very much. The stories matched the level of writing with Neelam Saxena Chandra & Shail Raghuvanshi. The Granny and Visible To The Eye And Yet Invisible, both of them are my favorite's. Both the stories are horror and will leave you sweating. Will be surely waiting for Nikhil's second contribution in writing.

NALINI SRIVASTAVA - A teacher by profession is a poet by heart, with several poems published in national and international anthologies, short stories being the new genre she is dabbling with.

Nalini has contributed her four short stories in Pluck Out The Heart - Mirror Mirror, On The Prowl, The Varnish and Think Before You Wish. Nalini’s stories mostly end up being a “Happy Ending”. Nalini’s stories do not give a horror feel but you get the feel of the physical presence in her stories. It looks like everything is happening in front of your eyes. Mirror Mirror and Think Before You Wish are my favorite’s. All the stories are almost on the same plot.

SAGHER MANCHANDA – He is a poet and storyteller. He has been published in several anthologies, ebooks, and e-magazines. In 2014, Sagher won the Saarang Literary Award from IIT Madras.

Pluck Out The Heart contains five short stories by Sagher - Mother’s Eye, Bad Burial, The Dried Roses, The Pride of Seine & The Last Act. Sagher’s stories give you a horror feeling and unexpected finish. But the story line is little weak as all the stories are based on the same plot. My favorites are Bad Burail and The Last Act where you can expect an unexpected ending that will leave you scared.

Pluck Out The Heart is a good collection of Horror short stories and will entertain you if you are a horror story lover. Read it at midnight and you will not be able to sleep.
