Faizan wishes to achieve great heights in the writing field as he feels one with it and describes poetry as a feeling. Teenage Musings is his first book.

Q. Characterize yourself in one word?

Q. Please describe what the story/book is about in one sentence.

A poetry book which describes various topics faced during a period of life full of ups and downs, commonly known as teenage.

Q. Briefly, what led up to this book? What were you writing (and getting published, if applicable) before breaking out with this book?

I was a poet since 9 years, my first poem was on stars which was... yes! Not a very good start. But as I grew up, so did the passion of writing in me. I had a dream that everyone should be able to read what I have experienced in my life, I had a dream to publish my own book but never thought of when? that it would be possible at the age of 16 years or maybe 60 years! I'm proud that I did it in the lower limit. The inspiration was an insult when my physics teacher caught me writing a poem and told that it was useless for a science student, this was the incident which acted as a little flame to my inner fire!

Q. What has been your biggest achievement?

Till now, being a 16 years old poet, receiving an author recognition for my book TEENAGE MUSINGS from Shri. Javed Akhtar sir and Praful Patel sir in the young Gujarat campaign is the greatest achievement for me till now.

Q. Looking back, what did you do right that helped you break in?

Sincerely, being a writer wasn't very challenging for me till I chose the science stream after 10th boards. After that, every other person was opposing including my parents as I was interested in a thing which has a very narrow future. They also called me a dork. The best thing I did was to never quit writing even after a huge oppose from the family and friends, it was difficult as hell but was worth nothing less than heaven.

Q. Did you have a platform in place? On this topic, what are you doing to build a platform and gain readership?

Every young writer needs a platform for his first book. Personally, I think I was very lucky to meet some great helpers and supporters at such a young age, which this book is a result of. I want to help each and every such writer who is under the shadow and wants to be published in all ways I can. I want to grow with everybody and it is my main aim, gaining readership is a secondary thing which does not bother me.

Q. Favorite novel?

I'm more of a poetry book guy than a novel reader, the book which is my favorite is Nitin Soni's THE BROKEN BOAT which inspired me and helped me in many ways to build this book.

Q. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?

My poetry's frequency is a very random thing. Sometimes I never have a word to write but some nights get me so much in mind that I am not even able to note everything down. Poetry is all about emotions and I am a very emotional person. Thus, truthfully stating that if I am a poet, I ain't talented it's just that I'm lucky.

Q. What’s next?

I want to be a professional writer and be an example for the people that if you have that potential, never quit. I also want to do some motivational speaking in the near future, you can surely expect a lot more from this 16-year-old poet.

Q. Future of SALISMANIA.com through your eyes?

SALISMANIA.com seems a great initiative to me as reviewing a book and giving honest answers, they have a rare transparency in their reviews which personally I like the most. I'm surely interested in working more with them.
