Q. Characterize yourself in one word?
Q. Please describe what the story/book is about in one sentence.
A journey of self-discovery, a crucible of identity with a tumultuous mix of love, despair, inspiration, and strength.
Q. Briefly, what led up to this book? What were you writing (and getting published, if applicable) before breaking out with this book?
Managing the news of CNN-News18 for many years got me stuck in a rat race. A 5 day trip to Goa opened my eyes and heart to do something spiritually fulfilling. I express my devotion to the Universe the best via my poetry, and compiled my collection, presenting a canvas of the journey that built me.
Q. What has been your biggest achievement?
My grandfather was a celebrated Dogri poet, a recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award for his book 'Ghar'. Continuing his legacy as a poet is I believe my greatest achievement.
Q. Looking back, what did you do right that helped you break in?
Persistence to find the right publisher.
Q. Did you have a platform in place? On this topic, what are you doing to build a platform and gain readership?
For poetry, I feel social media promotion is the strongest platform. I post excerpts of my poems on social media, share comments and portions that readers send me, connect with poetry clubs online, create networks with other authors for feedback. Over time, all of it helps to generate sales, but one has to be patient.
Q. Favorite novel?
Wolf of the Plans - Conn Iggulden.
Q. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?
I read very little. Get most of my inspiration via films, music, and television.
Q. What’s next?
A thriller on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Q. Future of SALISMANIA.com through your eyes?
Bigger, Stronger and Enlightening.
