INTERVIEW

Q. When did you first realise you wanted to become an author?

This was after I had left Mumbai and started doing religious travelling, during this phase I started my blog www.tikkustravelthon.in. Starting the blog gave me the discipline to write and travelling gave me many stories that I could write about. For five years I converted my writings into books and then figured out ways to sell them online and monetise my writings.

Q. How did your life change after your father's death?

I had to leave Mumbai and reinvent myself completely. I was left all alone that is where travelling helped. On the other hand, writing helped me figure out my emotions and gave me a creative outlet.

Q. How was your experience working with Shahrukh Khan as an actor?

Great. I had a few scenes with him in Rab ne Bana di Jodi. He was reserved on the set and was smoking all the time. My director Aditya Chopra was happy with my work and that was great. I did manage to chat with him about his IPL team and asked whether he was making any money out of it or not.

Q. How did you come up with the idea of publishing the book Nineteen on the COVID-19 pandemic?

This lockdown and the entire change of situation inspired me to write Nineteen. Most of the characters in the book are inspired by real-life individuals. For example, Yamini Kaul is inspired by Elizabeth Homes the CEO of Thrones, and the character of the Monk is inspired by Dandpani a Mystic Himself.

Q. Your book I Also Slept With Rashmi Verma is a college campus story. Tell us what inspired you to write this book?

It is the story of the love of my Campus life and my college days. I Also Slept With Rashmi Verma is a Phycological Campus Erotica with some great humour and Campus fun.

Q. Is your book Party Girls based on your personal experiences and observations?

Yes! It is. I had sex with all seven girls in the book and then wrote about it. I lived it first and then wrote about it through my personal experience.

Q. Tell us something about your upcoming book or project.

As of now, I am focused on making a web series out of my book I Also Slept With Rashmi Verma. I have made songs for it and I am busy casting for it currently.

Q. What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

I generally write at night and look for inspiration around my environment. If something catches my attention, I make sure to write about it. I also write 2000 words a day.

Q. What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I watch YouTube videos and meditate. I meditate for hours sometimes and these days I am busy doing that.

Q. Out of all the books that you have written. Which is your favourite one?

Without a doubt, I Also Slept With Rashmi Verma is my best although the book has only sold 200 copies so far.

Its plot revolves around every trending topic related to coronavirus that India experienced in the last 7 months.

The book talks about Lockdown and how it was crucial for stopping the growth of new corona cases. It also discusses how Tablighi Jamaat was scandalized by some political parties and media houses by spreading fake news. The religious divide that India faced during the initial stages and how the Muslim community was targeted is also covered in detail.

The book also makes you remember the Ebola virus and Gujrat Riots. It also discusses how some businesses are gaining from the current pandemic and are vital for the country's growth and future. It is well researched and has a strong plot. The characterization is also amazing and out of all the characters Danpani the SriLankan Mystical monk is my favorite.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

IMDB: 7.2

GENRE: Romance / Musical

WATCH ON: Amazon Prime Video

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (transl. A Match Made By God), also known as RNBDJ, is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language comedy romantic drama film written and directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra under the banner Yash Raj Films. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, who makes her Bollywood debut with this film. It follows a mild-mannered office worker Surinder Sahni (Shah Rukh Khan), whose love for his beautiful and vivacious wife Taani (Anushka Sharma), causes him to transform himself into the loud and fun-loving "Raj Kapoor" to win her love. It was released worldwide on 12 December 2008 and marked Chopra's return to directing after an 8-year hiatus following his previous directorial venture, Mohabbatein (2000), which also starred Khan.

The film was not heavily promoted pre-release by Khan or Yash Raj Films, mainly due to uncertainty and apprehensions regarding cinema-market conditions following the terror attacks in Mumbai. Upon release, the film received mixed-to-positive reviews and broke many box office records. It was quickly declared a super-hit, and at the end of its theatrical run, it grossed over ₹1.57 billion (US$22 million) worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year overseas, as well as Yash Raj and Khan's highest- grossing film.

The film's soundtrack was composed by Salim–Sulaiman, and it became the first Bollywood soundtrack to reach the top 10 albums sales on the iTunes Store. The film's script was recognized by a number of critics and was invited to be included in the Margaret Herrick Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, just a day after its release. The script is accessible for research purposes only; students, filmmakers, writers, and actors are among the regular patrons.
