Why I Stopped Wearing My Socks by Alok Kejriwal Book Review

Author Alok Kejriwal

BOOK REVIEW

In 2006, my father bought a desktop computer and got a BSNL broadband with Rs 250 per month plan which gave us unlimited internet data.

So, without wasting any time, I opened the desktop, connected the internet using the help book and boom! It was a NEW WORLD.

Apart from launching my e-magazine at the age of 14, and becoming the CEO of one of the premium book promotion websites in India - SALISMANIA.com, I love playing games on the internet.

Games and Sports are one of the most important parts of my life. I still remember 2 gaming websites that were my favorites in my desktop days - Stick Sports and Games2Win (with a monkey logo).

A few weeks back I came across a book titled - WHY I STOPPED WEARING MY SOCKS by Alok Kejriwal and this is my review.

WHY I STOPPED WEARING MY SOCKS by Alok Kejriwal is a collection of real-life short stories that will motivate you to continue your entrepreneurial journey no matter what.

When you start reading the book, it will look like just another rich kid's success story but as you move deep into the book, you will be amazed by the decisions taken by the author to shape his life.

This book teaches you that having X number of money in your bank account doesn't always mean that you are rich. You need family (who love you), friends (who support you) and connections (who motivate you) to live your life happily and enjoy each moment to the fullest.

The book also talks about the importance of sales, story telling, patience, belief, trust, passion, drive, and confidence to run a business.

I believe that all the learnings mentioned in this book are so valuable that even if you apply it to your life, it will change for good.

Regardless of your goals in life, I would recommend you to read this book at least once.

All the stories are true, and will definitely change your mindset. So, go ahead and buy this book from Amazon now!

ABOUT THE BOOK

By the time he was twenty, Alok Kejriwal had his life pre-planned for him. He would inherit the family’s socks manufacturing business and be the hard-working, money-minting, quintessential Marwari businessman, forever.

Except that it didn’t turn out that way. A few years after surviving the family setup, something turned up that sent Alok on a completely different career path: the INTERNET!

A crazy business idea Alok had turned out to be a winner and contests2win.com was born.

Soon, Alok was fighting and thriving in a world completely different from the one he had grown up in.

A world where technology breakthroughs, VCs, and out-of-the-box thinking decided the real winners.

Why I Stopped Wearing My Socks is Alok’s real, life story of starting up and unadulterated entrepreneurship.

It traces his roller-coaster ride as an aspiring entrepreneur; traversing through a variety of business ideas in the family business up to his big breakthrough as one of India’s first entrepreneurs to tap the power of the internet.

It details the amazing success of contests2win.com and Mobile2win, a venture eventually acquired by The Walt Disney Company.

The chapters in the book are actual stories, throbbing with memorable anecdotes that conclude with crisp learnings for the readers.

Why I Stopped Wearing My Socks is a deeply compelling story about beating the odds, staying motivated and gung-ho entrepreneurship.

It is an inspiration as well as a practical guide to emerging a winner.
