INTERVIEW:

Q. Characterize yourself in one word?

Dynamic.

Q. Please describe what the book is about in one sentence.

The Dawn is a collection of my poetry written since my high school days.

Q. Briefly, what led up to this book? What were you writing (and getting published, if applicable) before breaking out with this book?

Since my high school days, I have dreamt of publishing my own books. I am realizing that dream now. Back then, funding and catching the right publisher was a hurdle. Fortunately now, online modes are easier. I started writing short articles put of my own experiences a while ago. The collection of poems though spans through 10 years worth of writing.

Q. What has been your biggest achievement?

When my writing brings a smile to a face or even tears, when my writing can induce thought-provoking minds and when my writing can inspire people, I feel a sense of achievement.

My life's biggest achievement is living all of the above while making my parents proud too.

Q. Poetry for you is?

Everyone has that one friend who always stands by our side no matter how life treats us. We long for a friend who just listens to us and not be opinioned every time. Poetry is that friend to me.

Poetry is my "inner-peace" friend.

Q. Did you have a platform in place? On this topic, what are you doing to build a platform and gain readership?

Frankly, when I decided to publish my book, I did not think beyond publishing. I am from Bangalore. There are a few open mic sessions held here to read out our works. I have recently started attending those. I have also created a Facebook page called "Divinity". Slowly and steadily, I am spanning to reach out to the larger audience.

Q. Favorite poetry book?

I like the poems of Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost.

Q. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know? My writings maybe of few words but they carry a lot of power. Some may look hilarious but there's a pun involved. All of my writings are inspired by people around me. I watch, I dissolve the information and wove it into a piece of writing. We all appreciate a great piece of writing but a true reader is the one who understands the emotion behind that writing.

Q. Future of SALISMANIA.com through your eyes?

A platform for Indian authors to thrive and receive the right kind of feedback. Often new authors don't know where to go for promoting their book at the right platform. With a good reach to the audience, I see SALISMANIA.com be one of the top promoters for newcomers.

Thanks to your team for reaching out to one such new author :)
