INTERVIEW:

Q. Characterize yourself in one word? Uncomplicated.

Q. Please describe what the story/book is about in one sentence. A blood-chilling attempt to steal an ancient artifact of the Transgenders, THE ARAVAN HEAD, leads to a series of unprecedented events that rock Mumbai’s elite political circle and eventually the ramifications are observed in Delhi & Ghaziabad, indulging every mafia outfits there.

Q. Briefly, what led up to this book? What were you writing (and getting published, if applicable) before breaking out with this book? I had always wanted to write adventurous thrillers, especially about brutally honest and brave Cops. This way I could pinpoint many political, socio-economical atrocities and domestically inhuman activities taking place around, quite oblivious to us. My intention was also to shed some limelight on the pathetic lives of transgenders who have always been considered a taboo in our society, though many of them are creating histories in various fields. ARAVAN HEAD is my 3rd book actually and a prequel to the 1st. My first book, THE INVESTIGATOR SERIES did quite well and my 1st short story, THE PARCHED LAND, was published in the anthology, MIDDLE MARCH.

Q. What has been your biggest achievement? So far, I guess, I haven’t achieved anything, although I have acquired a large readership & so many genuine friends along with so much appreciation for what I write. But then, having my books published and my creations come alive could be considered as a great achievement. I do have a dream, a legacy which I wish to leave behind for my loving daughter. Till I reach that goal, I shall be publishing one book each year.

Q. Looking back, what did you do right that helped you break in? While in school, I was very much into writing short stories, plays & poems but soon my family’s poor condition caught me and it took 25 years to break free from the strangulating cocoon. All the while, I had never missed reading novels of great authors which kept alive my passion to write. 3 years before, one fine evening, I sat down with my laptop and started typing. Then there was no looking back. Q. Did you have a platform in place? On this topic, what are you doing to build a platform and gain readership?

When my 1st book came out, I had no clue at all as to how the sale has to be done. I was posting on all available social media sporadically, day & night, tagging each & everyone. Then I started learning to reach out to the right people who really guided me how to do things on the marketing front. Later my book found its place and now, even after a year, people talk & appreciate the characters. I’m active on Facebook, twitter, Instagram, Quora & Whatsapp where I get to interact with thousands of people, who already know about me & my books.

Q. Favorite novel?

Every book written by Clive Cussler, John Grisham & Robert Ludlum. I hold Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle very close to my heart.

Q. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?

I have already surprised them a year before when I told them that apart from writing I cook, sing & paint well. But here I wish to tell them all one more thing – I have come up from scrap and been through unimaginable horrors in life. A degree & actual education are two different aspects. I was completely deprived of education because of poverty. I did struggle a lot, endured untold of insults and have swallowed discrimination at every given point, to cope with highly erudite people with whom I have always fought to come this long. I had to keep myself informed, improvised & educated to excel. God has ever been so merciful and here I’m, among the league of highly educated groups, having created my own niche.

Q. What’s next?

I have a 3 book RELIGIOUS THRILLER series coming up next along with THE TERRITORY, the 3rd part of THE INVESTIGATOR SERIES. My both books have been read by film directors too. So I staunchly believe that someday, people may see few of my books being converted into movies.
