"I have tasted all flavors of life" - Rekha Hindwar

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Rekha Hindwar is the author of The Autograph. She belongs to a small town, Farrukhabad of Uttar Pradesh, where the legend Mahadevi Verma hails from. She is the daughter of an ex-army man, Mr. Roshan Singh, and homemaker, Mrs. Shri Devi. She was born in Jalandhar on March 28, 1993, where her father was posted at the time. She then moved to Farrukhabad where she grew up and completed her school.

Rekha graduated from IIIT, Allahabad. At 17, she started thinking about stories. She used to be lost in her thoughts, and this much was clear to her that sometimes she felt that she was going through the same things as the protagonists of her story.

While pursuing B.Tech, doctors diagnosed her with bipolar disorder, but she didn’t give up. She completed her graduation and is currently working in a leading startup from Gurgaon, BuildSupply. Throughout her journey, her family, especially her parents, always supported her. Her mother lived with her in the hostel during her college since the doctors recommended it. Like many others, Deepika Padukone is her role model for fighting bipolar.

INTERVIEW:

Q. Characterize yourself in one word?

If you'll ask me to define myself I'll say, I'm a day-dreamer. I often love to lose myself in my own imaginary world.

Q. Please describe what the story/book is about in one sentence.

The Autograph revolves around an Australian cricketer Sheer Lee and poor Indian girl Punya. They met when she came asking for his autograph. She was working in the same hotel where Lee was staying for his match. They become friends and then an unwanted incident happens which separates them. Sheer Lee doesn't want to keep a relationship with a girl who hails from the slum, and Punya won't compromise her self respect. So how they overcome their social difference story tells that.

Q. Briefly, what led up to this book? What were you writing (and getting published, if applicable) before breaking out with this book?

This story inspires from a thought of mine, what if a young Australian cricketer like Brett Lee falls in love with a girl who hails from slum but has an attitude like a high-value girl. Actually, I'm a great fan of Brett Lee and I aspire to become a film director one day, so I would like to cast him for this story. I made this story for him only.

I wrote this book when I was 18, but unfortunately, due to the shortcoming of resources, I couldn't publish it. So published it now. I also have 5 more books in my mind and I was structuring the story of them.

Q. What has been your biggest achievement?

My biggest achievement yet is I'm 25 and I published my very first book which I wrote when I was 18. Generally, writers publish their first book in their thirties.

Q. Looking back, what did you do right that helped you break in?

I'm a person who has no constant life, I mean once I was the topper of class then on the other hand once I was the 55% holder also, and sometimes average one also. Same is with other aspects also. So I have tasted all flavors of life and I know how it feels being in extreme ends of the pole. So the versatility of my life has helped me a lot in writing.

Q. Did you have a platform in place? On this topic, what are you doing to build a platform and gain readership?

I don't have the platform yet, it's my very first book. I self-published my book, for upcoming books I'll try to get my book published by any of the big publishers of India. I'm taking the help of promoters like you to gain readership. Let's see how things go.

Q. Favorite novel?

Can love happen twice?

Q. Something personal about you people may be surprised to know?

People will be surprised to know that though I write a story in a book, I can't read a book if it has only one story like novels. The only novel I read yet is Can Love Happen Twice. But I love reading story books, comics, and Champak. Now I'm indulging myself into reading novels as I need to read much of books in order to become a successful writer.

Q. Future of SALISMANIA.com through your eyes?

A platform for newbies in writing for promoting their books and gain readership. I hope it will cross all milestones they have set for them and set those milestones for others. BUY NOW - The Autograph by Rekha Hindwar
